about clue.

light as a living
canvas

clue. is a series of light objects powered by a generative image algorithm. every frame is computed live — no two moments are ever the same.

every glance, a new composition

clue. is not a static lamp. the animation embedded in each object is fully generative — driven by an algorithm that computes each frame independently, producing an organic, color-radiating visualization that is almost unique at every moment.

the circular gradient form of the animation was inspired by the work of Wojciech Fangor, a 20th-century Polish artist known for his hypnotic, concentric color fields. clue. borrows that visual structure — the palette and movement are entirely its own.

Jakub Kirklewski

elektrojakub

born in 1994, he works as an engineer focused on lighting installations. trained in electronics and telecommunications engineering and as a sound-production technician. at the meeting point of technology and art, he builds interactive installations that use camera feeds and motion sensors to drive generative imagery.

creator of the clue. series of light objects (@clue.lamp). together with Ksawery Kirklewski (@ksawerykomputery), he co-created FLUX (Miami Art Week 2022, Signal Festival Prague 2023, Vilnius Light Festival 2024), ENTER (NXT Museum Amsterdam, Khroma New Media Museum Berlin), and LOTUS (salon opening during Paris Fashion Week 2023).

clue. is a solo project — from the first sketched idea to the final shipped object. every part of it was designed, coded, prototyped, and iterated by hand.

five different display and control systems were built and tested before the right one was found. the 3d-printed enclosures were learned from scratch. the animation algorithm was written from the ground up. the costs were refined until the whole thing made sense.

maximum about 25W; typical use is around 15W on average.

there are two ways to set it up — both parts are included in the box:

  • wall — use the screw hanger from the box
  • shelf or desk — use the stand from the box
  • connect USB-C to power

the animation is driven by a generative algorithm — every frame is computed independently, so no two moments are ever identical.

no. the algorithm runs entirely on the lamp's hardware — no internet connection or app needed.
